Annually, October is dedicated to National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The VSP participated in a vary of events to bring awareness to the community about the growing problem of domestic violence.
The Manistee News Advocate was kind enough to collaborate with the VSP by writing an article about the program’s purpose and services for a feature article in its paper. As a result of the article, the Manistee Housing Commission reached out to the VSP’s program’s manager to learn more about the VSP, and to offer the Commission’s victim services set-a-side homes for the VSP to use for clients in need of housing.
Thank you, Manistee Advocate, for writing a story that will have a positive impact on survivors. Often, lack of affordable housing is a barrier to a victim leaving an abusive relationship. Now, the VSP has another resource with which to assist its clients.
