ABOUT US
The STRIVE Team is a collaborative network of professionals serving Mason, Lake, Oceana, and Manistee counties who are unites in their commitment to supporting survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual assault.
STRIVE brings together local law enforcement officers, prosecutors, victim advocates, medical professionals, and community agencies who stand with survivors and work collectively to ensure safety, justice, and compassionate support.
Our team believes that no survivor should have to navigate systems alone. By working together across disciplines, we strengthen communication, coordinate responses, and create systems that are trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and accountable.
Through collaboration, education, and shared commitment, STRIVE is building safer communities where survivors are heard, supported, and empowered – and where violence is addressed with a unified and proactive response.
HOW IT STARTED
The STRIVE Team was formed through a shared commitment between Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters (COVE) and the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians Victim Services Program (LRBOI VSP) to strengthen and unify the response to domestic violence and sexual assault across our region.
Because survivors often move between jurisdictions, systems, and agencies, both organizations recognized the value of merging their separate Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Response Teams (DVSART) into one coordinated, inclusive collaboration. Rather than operating in parallel systems, leaders committed to building a unified team that prioritizes survivor-centered practices, cultural respect, and seamless communication.
This merger was rooted in the understanding that true support requires more than individual agency efforts – it requires coordinated systems change. By coming together, COVE and the LRBOI VSP strengthened partnerships with law enforcement, prosecutors, medical professionals, and community advocates throughout Mason, Lake, Oceana, and Manistee counties.
